Faith
You’re Full of It!
by Pastor John Hamel
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that
is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the
measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3)
The Bible says that God has dealt to every Born Again person “the measure of faith.” Often times people come up to me after I finish preaching and
say something like, “Pastor John, I sure wish I had faith like you
do.”
I always say, “You do. You just don’t know it. You’re full of it!”
I’ll then quote the above verse of Scripture to them.
Often they just look at me puzzled and walk away. Sometimes they ask
me to explain.
I’d like to explain to you very briefly what “the measure of
faith” is, because if you’re Born Again, you're
full of it.
Please understand that you are not a body. You are a spirit. (1Thessalonians 5:23) You are created in God’s image.
(Genesis 1:26) God is a Spirit. (John 4:24)
This means you are
a spirit. All human beings are “spirits.”
When a human being accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior,
something supernatural happens inside of their spirit. The Bible says
that they become an individual who never existed before. The Bible calls this the “New Creation.” (2Corinthians 5:17)
At that same moment in time, God
imparts to them “the measure of faith.” Everyone
gets the same “measure” because God treats all of His children equally.
(Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11)
What you do with "the measure of faith" is
entirely up to you. It can become highly developed by learning all
you can about the Bible. The Bible says that highly developed faith
is the result of “hearing” God’s Word continually. (Romans 10:17)
That word “hearing” actually means, “to observe with the eye and with the
ear.” (Proverbs 4:20-22)
The more you keep God’s Word going into your spirit through the
“eye gate” and the “ear gate,” the more highly developed “the measure of
faith” will become.
That’s why some men and women of faith accomplish so much more
than others. They’ve not been satisfied with “the measure of faith”
alone. They’ve chosen to hear and hear and hear God’s Word.
They have chosen to develop "the measure of faith" by hearing and
hearing and hearing God's Word properly preached and taught.
This has
resulted in increased, stronger faith to do exploits
for God. (Daniel 11:32)
So, there you have it in a nutshell. If you’re Born
Again, you have “the measure of faith” resident within you. You can
let "the measure of faith" just sit there dormant within
you. Or, you can grab hold of God’s Word and develop it to meet
every need. (Matthew 9:29; Mark 5:34)
It's
entirely up to you.
God will not force you to develop your faith. He commands
you to develop your faith but He leaves the obedience aspect entirely up to you.
(Isaiah 1:18,19)
So no more talk about “I sure wish I had your kind of
faith.” You do. YOU’RE FULL OF IT! You’re a human vessel
filled with it.
Now it's up to you to develop it much like body builders choose
to develop their bodies. Get in the Word. Show up where the Word's being preached every time the doors are
open. Shut that TV off for awhile. Get out of those chat
rooms. Set the novels aside.
Do everything in your power to increase the measure of faith
God has given you. Faith will then come out of you when you talk and pray. You'll do great exploits for God.
People will be e-mailing you, calling you and hunting you down when they
need to get a hold of Heaven. You'll automatically acquire the reputation
of someone who knows how to get God's attention.
Not Born Again? Say, “Jesus, You’re my choice” and that
will fix that problem. (Romans 10:13)
The first time you were born you experienced a physical birth
through the person of your physical mother. That’s how you got into
this physical world.
The second time you are born or “Born Again,” you experience a
spiritual birth through the Person of your Spiritual Brother, Jesus
Christ. That’s how you get into God’s Spirit world.
One is a physical birth; the other is a spiritual birth - hence
the term, “Born Again.” “Except a
man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
Once you’re Born Again, if you are interested in an even
greater degree of power, you can receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. That’s when things will really start
cracking for you.
FAITH: YOU'RE FULL OF IT. Now do something with it.
