Gifts
of the Holy Spirit 2
The Gift of Faith
by Pastor John Hamel
We will begin our study with the three Power Gifts. The
three Power
Gifts do something.
This first
study will cover the Gift of Faith.
The Gift of Faith is a supernatural power that comes only from the God of the Bible.
It is the supernatural ability to believe God to protect and to provide during times of
extreme crisis or danger.
The Gift
of Faith is over and above what I call general faith.
When people accept
Jesus as Lord, they do that by general faith.
Once they are Born Again, God imparts to
them the “measure of faith.” As they grow in
knowledge of God’s Word, the measure of faith develops. They are now
able to believe things they were unable to believe before. As the
measure of faith grows, God is able to bless them more and more.
Then there is the
Gift of Faith.
Again,
the Gift of Faith is over and above general faith.
This
Gift brings into operation the powers of the world to come.
By this
Gift, God works FOR you and not just THROUGH you.
Frequently when
this Gift is operating, it results in angelic assistance
going into operation on your behalf.
The
Apostle Peter & the Gift of Faith
The
Apostle Peter was acquainted with the Gift of Faith and angelic
protection. He was in prison for preaching the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. King Herod had decreed the removal of his head. This
supernatural Gift of Faith came upon Peter. The night before his
scheduled execution he became so supernaturally confident as a result of
this Gift coming into manifestation, he simply went to sleep. From
that point God’s angel went to work for him.
“And when Herod
would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two
soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the
prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light
shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up,
saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And
the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he
did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment
about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel;
but thought he saw a vision."
"When they
were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own
accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith
the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent His angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the
expectation of the people of the Jews.” (Acts 12:6-11)
God sent His angel
to deliver Peter through the operation of the Gift of Faith.
Peter did not have much to do with this
at all. He simply fell asleep, woke up, got dressed, put on his
sandals and followed the angel as instructed. The angel released
Peter's chains, led him through the prison labyrinth, automatically opening
every locked gate before them and leading Peter to freedom.
This was the Gift of Faith in
operation.
Pretty
much all Peter had to do was cooperate with the Gift of Faith while it was
in operation.
Pretty
much that is all anyone has to do when this Gift is in operation.
By
this Gift God worked for Peter and not just through Peter.
By
this Gift God works for an individual and not just through an
individual.
Frequently, when this Gift is operating, it is the result
of angels working on your behalf.
The
Gift of Faith is a supernatural power that comes only from the God of the
Bible. It is for the express purpose of protecting and providing
during times of extreme crisis and danger.
The
Gift of Faith brings into operation the powers of the world to come.
The
Gift of Faith is over and above general faith.
To see how this Gift operated in my life, go to “The
Albuquerque Fire Pit” and read how God sent His angel to deliver
me from my personal prison, as well.
This very same Gift
that operated for Peter and for me can operate for you, as well.
The
Holy Spirit can be trusted to help you in your hour of need.
If this
is the Gift you will need at that time, this is the Gift that will
automatically come into manifestation.
The Apostle Paul
said, “But covet earnestly the best gifts.” (1
Corinthians 12:31)
What are the best Gifts?
The best Gifts are
the ones that are needed most at the moment.
Pray now that God’s
Gifts will manifest in the Earth. When you need them, they will be
there.
In
our next lesson we will study the second of the three Power Gifts, the Gifts
of Healings.
