Jesus
of Nazareth
Restorer of Dignity & Dominion
by Pastor John Hamel
“And
God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the
fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26)
When
God created the Heavens and the Earth, He placed His man in the Earth as
its Keeper. Adam and Eve were to rule the Earth for God and exercise
dominion over all evil and intruders.
God
placed two trees in the Garden: The Tree of Life and the Tree of the
Knowledge of Good and Evil. The Tree of Life was to be eaten from
freely. The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was to be avoided
at all costs. Eating from that tree would result in man becoming
separated from God and losing his World Dominion. (Genesis
2:7-17)
Because
God made man in His image, it was man’s choice as to whether he would obey
God or not. Unfortunately, His man chose disobedience. (Genesis 3)
Now
God was faced with the Crisis of the Ages. His Justice required that sin be punished or
His man would never take Him seriously again. His Mercy required that the sin simply be forgiven; otherwise,
man would run away from God and not to Him whenever he got into
trouble. What was God to do?
God
pulled off what only the God of the Universe could. His Love for man
rose up and said, “I’ll become a man through the Person of My Son, Jesus,
and pay the penalty for them Myself. That way, My Justice will be
satisfied because sin has been punished. My Mercy will be satisfied
because I can then simply forgive them when they accept My sacrifice as
their own.”
God’s
Justice and Mercy both were satisfied by His Love. Man, through
Jesus’ sacrifice, has been restored to his former right relationship with
Almighty God. An astounding miracle pulled off legally by Creator God
Himself!
However,
man is not just restored to right relationship with God by accepting Jesus’
sacrifice. Man is also restored to his former position of dominion,
just as he possessed it in the Garden.
Man is now seated, in Christ, at God’s right hand.
(Ephesians 2:4-6)
Man has been re-crowned with Glory and honor.
(Psalm 8:5)
Man has been given back dominion over Satan,
the source of all sickness, poverty and oppression.
(Luke 10:17-20; John 10:10; Acts 10:38)
Sickness, poverty, confusion
and failure must bow its knee when the Believer now uses Jesus’ Name, exercising faith in that
Name. (Mark 16:15-20; John 16:23; James 4:7)
So
the next time someone tells you that God’s making you sick, keeping you
broke or whipping up on your family to teach you something, stand your
ground. Say, “Not my God. He’s a good God. Jesus has
restored me to a position of dignity and dominion. Satan is the damner. God is the Blesser.” (John 10:10)
The Bible says that
Jesus became a curse for you so that you would not have to be cursed because of sin. (2Corinthians 5:21)
This is not to condone sin.
Somebody said, “Black is black and white
is white. Hell is hot ‘cause
sin ain’t right!”
Sin is wrong but
repentance, restored relationship, restored dignity and
restored dominion is always right.
So quit messing with
sin and start exercising your restored dominion today.
Be blessed as you walk
in dignity and as you exercise your Blood-bought dominion.
