Jesus the
Champion
Over All 3 Realms
by
Pastor John Hamel
“And
there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the
feast: The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of
Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.” (John 12:20,21)
One
day when Jesus was in Jerusalem
for the Passover Feast, some Greeks came looking for Him. Finding
Philip, Jesus’ close disciple, they expressed their desire to “see”
Jesus.
In
Jesus’ day, Greeks worshipped the human body. No doubt, these men
from Greece
had heard all about Jesus’ miracle working power.
Everyone had. However, I don’t believe these men came because of
Jesus’ miracles alone. I believe they came to “see” what a perfect
physical specimen Jesus was.
As
I said, Greeks worshipped the human body and Jesus, no doubt, was something
to behold, physically. I believe these Greeks had heard about Jesus’
body and traveled from afar to “see” Him.
Jesus’ body was not
affected by Adam’s fall and He would have been a perfectly developed,
strong, healthy athletic individual, even as Adam was at Creation.
This is one of the reasons the Bible calls Jesus “The Second Adam”. (1
Corinthians 15:45)
I
believe Jesus’ body was so perfectly healthy and highly developed that
these men came from afar just to see what God’s Son’s
perfect body would look like.
I also believe that if Jesus had
chosen a career in Sports over a career in Redemption, He would have
excelled in them all.
Had
Jesus ever decided to take up Pro Boxing, He’d still be holding the title
in all classes to this day.
Jesus was not the skinny little wimp that
religion so often portrays. His enemies, all of them I’m sure, were
thankful that Jesus was not the type to start throwing punches when the persecution
started coming on strong. There would have been unconscious hypocrites
lying all around. Jesus would have been the World Champion Hypocrite
Knocker-Outer. That big ole Gold Belt would’ve looked pretty good
around His white tunic, too. As a
matter of fact, it’s going to. (Revelation 1:13)
However,
Jesus wasn’t only a physical example of power and perfection. He was
and is an example of spiritual power and perfection as well. The
spirit realm is populated with evil beings. All of them absolutely
fear Jesus. (James 2:19)
After all, Jesus spent three days in Hell,
suffering in our place, ultimately whipping the daylights out of their most powerful leaders.
(Colossians 2:15) Word is now out in the spirit world. “Jesus
Christ is Master over all three realms - Heaven,
Earth and that which hangs in between.” (Philippians 2:9,10)
Jesus
set forth a mighty showing as “The Champ” in the spirit realm, even as He
did while here on Earth. The Bible says that in doing so, He was able
to strip Satan and demons of all authority over humans. (Colossians 2:15;
Hebrews 2:14)
That authority has now been given
to His followers. (Luke
10:19) All who believe in “The Champ” can now become “A Champ”
over their own circumstances whenever Satan
attacks.
Satan
knows that by messing with you, he ends up being run down again by your Big
Brother Jesus. (Hebrews 2:17) He does not like that. That is why
when as a family member you tell him to “Go, in Jesus’
Name” from your family,
finances, body, etc., he does so immediately.
He would much rather
concede to you than go back into the ring with “The Champ.”
The
Bible says he prowls about “as” a roaring lion. (1Peter 5:8) He’s no
lion. He’s toothless. “The Champ” knocked them all out.
This
is why the Bible calls God’s Born-Again
children “more than conquerors.” (Romans 8:37)
Jesus did the Championship fighting and
won. We get all the benefits
of His victory.
Jesus
is the
Conqueror. We are more than
conquerors.
“Submit
yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
(James 4:7)
Be
blessed as you walk in Jesus’ victory
