Jesus,
Man of Wonder
Amazing, Astonishing
Wonder Worker
by Pastor John Hamel
“And great
multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind,
dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he
healed them: Insomuch that the multitude WONDERED...” (Matthew 15:30)
Everywhere Jesus
went multitudes of sick, suffering, hurting,
lonely, confused people followed Him. Wherever these crowds gathered
He would perform such astounding miracles and supernatural acts of
deliverance that the people wondered or marveled! Jesus was and
indeed still is the Man of Wonder.
“And, behold, a man
… cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is
mine only child. Lo, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out;
it tears him that he foams again, and bruising him hardly departs from him.
…And Jesus answering said …Bring thy son hither. As he was yet a
coming, the devil threw him down and tare him.
Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and delivered him again
to his father. And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. …they
wondered every one at all things which Jesus did…” (Luke
9:38-43)
The original word
for “amazed” in this verse actually means, “to be stricken with
astonishment.”
You, too, will be stricken with
astonishment if you’ll
give the Man of Wonder opportunity to help you. All who unleash
expectation in His healing, delivering, providing power end up stricken
with ASTONISHMENT.
After Jesus rose
from the dead, He appeared to some of His disciples. They were inside
a secret hiding place with the door and windows locked for fear of the
authorities. Jesus simply passed through the wall, supernaturally, to
their wonderment.
“As they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were
terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and
why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it
is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as
ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed
them his hands and his feet. …they yet believed not for joy, and WONDERED…”
(Luke
24:36-41)
Does your life seem
like nothing but locked doors and windows? Does it seem to you that
you are locked in a room filled with darkness and fear? Does it seem
as if you’ve been locked away from all the good things in life?
God
wants you to know that it’s not possible for you to be so “locked
up” and so “locked away” that He can’t get to you. That’s
why you’re reading this Bible study.
God sees your pain,
your fear and your need and has compassion on
you. He wants to give you the miracle you need.
One that will cause you to marvel.
One that will fill you with astonishment and cause you to realize how
wonder-full He actually is.
Jesus is not the source of your
problems. Jesus is the source of
your solution.
Satan is the source of your problems.
“The thief cometh
not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I [Jesus] am come
that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
(John 10:10)
When people don’t
know what the Bible says, they wrongly blame God for
all the bad things in life. But when the Bible opens up to
them, they begin to discover and experience the marvelous, astonishing,
wonder-full goodness of God. (Psalm 145:8,9; James 1:17)
Simply say, “Jesus,
I choose You as my Wonderful Savior. I
trust You for the miracle I need. Forgive me for blaming You for what Satan has done to me.”
(Romans 10:13)
Now you’ll begin to
see wonder-full things happen FOR you, as opposed to those less than
wonderful things that were happening TO you.
