The
Reality of Angels
Part
Two
By
Pastor John Hamel
We are involved in a
concise but comprehensive study of the subject of Angelology.
The extent of
Angelology in Scripture is amazing. It
begins in the very first book of the Bible where God placed an angel with a
flaming sword at the entryway to the Garden of Eden to keep man from eating
from the Tree of Life. Had man done so, he would have lived in his
fallen condition forever. (Genesis 3:24)
The
subject of Angelology continues throughout Scripture with over 300
references to angels and angelic activity in Heaven and Earth. Over
one hundred of those references reveal angels in service to man.
References to angels continues right through the
Book of Revelation, the very last book of the Bible.
We are about to see an escalation of angelic activity in the Earth,
greater than any other time in human history.
As we approach the last days, angelic activity increases.
As a matter of fact, there is more angelic activity in Revelation,
the Book of the Last Days, than in any other book of the Bible.
In “The Reality of
Angels, Part One"
we saw …
Angels Work
Extensively in the Physical Realm
Angels Are Messengers of Extreme Intellectual Ability
Angels Are Tremendous Warriors
Angels Possess Supernatural Strength to Perform Physical Feats
Angels Perform Supernatural Ministry on Behalf of Man
Angels Were Created by Jesus Christ
Angels Are Innumerable
Angels Are Holy
Let’s move right
into “The Reality of Angels, Part Two.”
Angels Experience Joy Concerning God's Human Creation
“Likewise, I say
unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner
that repenteth.” (Luke 15:10)
I once
heard my Pastor, Dr. Sumrall, say, “Someone is saved every second of every
day.” Now that is a lot of joy
for the angels of God. That puts many of God’s angels in position to where they are rejoicing 24
hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
If human creation experiencing
salvation gives
angels such joy, can you
imagine the joy they experience bringing messages to us from God, battling
the princes of darkness on our behalf and delivering human beings through
feats of supernatural strength?
Every
act of protection concerning God’s righteous creation opens an artesian
well of joy for the angels of God. Angels
are not robots. They have minds,
intellect, wills, wants, needs and emotions. Apparently
nothing makes them feel better than helping the apex of God’s creation –
human beings.
Angels Escort Your Spirit to Heaven When It Is Time
Now here is
something that gives your angels great joy.
“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the
angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in
hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments and seeth Abraham afar off and
Lazarus in his bosom.” (Luke 16:22-23)
The angels carried this beggar to what the Hebrews called “Abraham’s
Bosom” or “Paradise.” Paradise
was once a compartment in Hell
where the righteous dead, those who believed the Messiah was coming, would
go at death to wait for Him. Humanity had not yet been forgiven by the
Blood of Jesus.
Therefore, at death no one was allowed to go directly into Heaven. Paradise, or
Abraham's Bosom, was a holding tank, so to speak, a compartment of provision and protection provided for
the righteous dead until Jesus came to pay the penalty for humanity's sins.
Once sin's penalty was paid, Jesus lead those being held captive in Paradise
into Heaven. (Ephesians 4:8-11)
Now that Jesus has paid the penalty for our sins, the
safety compartment called Paradise, or Abraham's Bosom, no longer exists in
Hell for it is no longer needed. When Christians die physically they go immediately into the
Lord's presence in Heaven. (2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23)
Now,
at the time of physical death your
personal angels escort you not to Paradise or Abraham's Bosom, not to the cemetery, not to the
crematorium, not
to the biology laboratory but into the very presence of Jesus Himself. This
occurs the very
split second your soul/spirit leaves your body.
This is why the Christian must never
fear death. A Christian
fearing death is tantamount to being afraid of Heaven. Wouldn't that
be silly?
The
angels of God experience great joy about escorting Believers to Heaven.
The moment the angels drop you off in Heaven, you will realize what
is happening and will exclaim, “Whew, I’m glad I don’t have to go back to
Planet Earth and go
through something like that again. Sometimes I thought I'd never get here.”
Your angels will
respond, “We
are so glad you are here as well. It’s far better
up here. Come
with us, now. We want
to take you to a bunch of folks you know and love who have been awaiting your arrival.”
The
Bible says the angels of God will “keep you in all your ways,” including
when it is time for you to leave Planet Earth to travel on to Planet
Heaven. (Psalm 91:11)
You may not know it, but you are never alone.
Never.
Angels Are Limited in the Type of Help They Offer
They cannot preach the Gospel in this present Dispensation.
They will preach the Gospel from the Heavens all across the Earth
during the Tribulation Period. (Revelation 8, 9,11,12)
But for now it is up to man to preach the Gospel.
However, angels can tell you and even lead you to where you can hear
the Word of God preached should that become necessary.
“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion
of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared
God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to
God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day
an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And
when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he
said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before
God. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is
Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea
side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.” (Acts 10:1-6)
The angel told Cornelius where he could find Peter who would preach
the Gospel to him. Cornelius sent for Peter. Peter came, preached to Cornelius’ household, they all
believed and were saved and filled with the Holy
Spirit.
So just relax if you been worried about your loved ones
living somewhere where it appears there is no one to preach the Gospel to
them.
God will save your family.
He could send an angel to tell them where the Gospel is being preached, and
if He does, I can assure you experientially, they will listen.
When an angel of God appears, it changes one's life
forever. It
has happened to me
no less than eight times.
Angels Are Divided into Ranks and Categories
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that
are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions,
or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
(Colossians 1:16-17)
Angels, like all other governments and militaries,
are highly organized and divided into proper rankings and categories. They
are not a
hodge-podge mess of plump little babies, wrapped in ribbons, flying around in every
direction and
shooting miniature bows and arrows. They
are
all-powerful created beings with supernatural strength, with supernatural wisdom
and holiness and are highly organized.
As a matter of fact,
Satan and his demonic principalities and powers are as organized as they are
today because
they are still operating according to
the same principles they learned prior to being kicked out
of Heaven for rebellion.
(Ephesians 6:12; Revelation 12:4, 9)
It
is important to note here that all authorities and powers are subject to
Jesus, whether they be human, angelic or demonic.
“Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels
and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.” (1 Peter 3:22)
In this Angelology series we will have an entire lesson called
"Angelic Government and
Organization." Let
it suffice for now to say they are highly organized and disciplined,
operating under the Headship of the Lord Jesus Christ, their Creator, and on
behalf of humanity. And they are
quite joyful to do so, as we have seen.
Angel Worship Is Forbidden in Scripture
“Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and
worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen,
vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.” (Colossians 2:18)
Paul is warning the Colossian Believers, as well the Believers of every
generation, to never worship angels. Notice
Paul said you could be “beguiled of your reward”
by doing so. This means you could
ultimately lose your
eternal inheritance for worshipping angels.
Cults worship angels and cults
worship demons. Christians,
on the other hand, worship Jesus, commission angels and
take authority over demons.
When the Apostle John was caught up into Heaven while imprisoned on the Island
of Patmos, he fell down to worship the angel
who was assigned to take him through his revelation. The angel
actually rebuked John for doing so.
“And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard
and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed
me these things. Saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy
fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the
sayings of this book: worship God.” (Revelation 22:8-9)
The angel told John, in essence, “Get up and don’t do that, man.
Obey the Book. Worship God only.”
Angels
Never Bring Revelation Contrary to God's Written Word
Something else an angel will never do is come to you with a
revelation of some other Gospel other than that which the Foundational Prophets have
recorded in the Bible. Now, you know angels do not
preach or teach in this Dispensation. We
just covered that. If one does,
that is is your first clue something is wrong.
And if something or someone appears to you and speaks to you or
operates before you contrary to the Written Word of God, the Apostle Paul said they are
accursed and you will be cursed, too, if you listen to
them.
An
angel sent from God will never twist, spin or speak against the written Word
of God.
"But
though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than
that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said
before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto
you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:8-9)
Angels Worship God Now and Through Eternity
“And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the
elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and
worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and
thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and
ever. Amen.” (Revelation 7:11-12)
There is a multiplicity of angels, millions and millions of angels
who stand round about God's Throne forever, saying,
“Amen, blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power and might be
unto our God forever and ever.”
Keep in mind, from Part One of this lesson, there are no less than 104
million angels worshipping around the Throne of God forever.
To give you an idea of how many that is, it is the equivalent of 1,000 Soccer stadiums each seating
100,000 people. And you thought
the Throne Room was only as big as the Oval Office at the White House.
This
contingent of angels gathered around the Throne of
God is equal to no less than 1/3 the population of the United States of
America. That is also equal to the entire
population of Mexico (104 million). That
is
almost the entire population of the Russian Federation (140 million).
It
is also greater than the combined populations of Belgium, Portugal, Hungary,
Bolivia, Ecuador, the Czech Republic, Greece, Serbia, Sweden, Austria and
Israel.
Now that is some kind of praise and worship!

Angels Worship God Now and Through Eternity.
As we draw near to the close of this Age and the Rapture
of the Church, followed seven years later by the Second Coming of Jesus, there will be
increased activity and intervention between angels and human beings.
It will most definitely escalate on a supernatural scale.
That
is
why there is more angelic activity in the Book of Revelation than in any
other book of the Bible. We are
moving in that direction now.
The
more we understand angelic intervention and operations, the more we can
cooperate with angels and the more we will find ourselves supernaturally
involved with angels.
