The Holy Spirit
Something Jesus Said about Him
by Pastor John Hamel
“Wherefore I say unto
you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the
blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And
whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:
but whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world, neither in the world to come.” (Matthew 12:31,32)
Jesus performed many
outstanding miracles while
living on the Earth. The religious leaders of His day couldn’t
imitate those miracles and it made them incredibly jealous. One of
those religious leaders bemoaned jealously, “…behold, the world is gone
after Him.” (John 12:19)
One day Jesus cast a spirit out of a blind and dumb man. “Dumb” meaning
he was unable to speak. Once that spirit was cast out of the man, he
was able to see and speak again.
The religious leaders were enraged
and accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan. Jesus
had cast out that blind and dumb spirit by the power of the Holy Spirit, so
He laid right into His accusers.
He warned them by
telling them, in essence, “Criticizing Me is one thing. Criticizing the Holy Spirit is another. Criticize
Me and you’ll be forgiven. Criticize the Holy Spirit and you won’t be
forgiven. What I do, I do by the Holy Spirit’s power, not by Satan’s
power. If I were you, I’d be real careful when it comes to calling
the Holy Spirit ‘Satan’.” (Matthew 12:22-32)
I Pastored
a Church in New England
for a number of years. While conducting a healing service, a woman
came up for prayer. She had a tumor behind her right eye as big as
her eye, a tumor in her breast and a tumor on the back of her leg. I
prayed for her and the tumors all disappeared over the next couple of weeks.
Later she came to me and
said, “That was so supernatural, I don’t know if you’re of God or of Satan.” I reminded her that what happened
to her glorified God, not Satan. It was
promised in the Bible. It occurred as a result of faith-filled prayer to the Father in Jesus’ Name.
I also reminded her that I was not of Satan. I am a man anointed
by the Holy Spirit to do what I do and I always point people to Jesus, not
Satan.
“If I were you,” I
warned her, “I would be very careful to never falsely accuse God’s servants
of being holed up with Satan when God uses them to glorify Himself.”
She dug in her heels and began telling others that I was “of the
devil.” To make a long, sad story short, ALL THREE TUMORS REAPPEARED
AS SUPERNATURALLY AS THEY HAD DISAPPEARED.
This woman’s life
completely fell apart. In place of repenting, she
walked away from the good God Who had healed her. She still to this
day insists that I am not a man of God. All over a wonderful miracle
gone bad because she lacked the ability to discern between good and evil.
"But strong meat belongeth
to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their
senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
(Hebrews 5:14)
Religion and ignorance
of God’s written Word had clouded this woman's mind concerning all things
supernatural. She ended up blaspheming the Holy Spirit’s power.
Do you need a
miracle? Will you give glory to God and the Holy Spirit when you
receive your miracle?
Have you made Jesus your
Savior? If not, say, “Jesus, You’re my choice.”
(Romans 10:13) That’s the first step into miracle power.
Once you’ve done that,
you can simply ask God to give you what you need “in Jesus’ Name” and He’ll see to it
that you are helped.
“And in that day ye
shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall
ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” (John 16:23)
When you pray, know that
your Heavenly Father will not allow you to receive counterfeit answers.
(Luke 11:11-13) When you ask Him to heal you, He will heal you - not
Satan. When you ask Him to prosper you, He will prosper you - not Satan.
Don't make the mistake
that the woman mentioned above made. Her mind was so clouded with
religion and false doctrine that she believed the lie that healing comes
from Satan and sickness comes from God. Anybody who believes like
that actually believes that Satan is more merciful than God. This is not what the Bible teaches.
The Bible teaches that
God is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.
(2Corinthians 1:3)
God is the Blesser.
The Bible also teaches that Satan is the damner.
(John 10:10)
When you pray, expect
supernatural results. The secret to life is expecting miracles. When you receive,
thank the Holy Spirit for blessing you.
Don't let anyone ever tell
you that healing, prosperity or anything good comes into your life by the
power of Satan. Pardon my grammar, but he ain't
got the goods!
Good things come from God and from God alone.
"Every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with
whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning." (James 1:17)
Expect the Holy Spirit
to respond to your every prayer request, when you pray to the Father in
Jesus' Name, according to the written Word of God.
