Suicide
Thoughts?
Read This First. You're Not Alone or Powerless
by Pastor John Hamel
“And
one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my
son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wherever he takes him, he tears him: and
he foams, and gnashes with his teeth, and pines away… and when he [the
spirit] saw Him [Jesus], straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on
the ground, and wallowed foaming. And He asked his father, How long
is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. And
often it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him:
but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
“Jesus
said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said
with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. …He [Jesus] rebuked
the foul SPIRIT, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf SPIRIT, I charge thee,
come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the SPIRIT cried,
and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; …Jesus took
him [the boy] by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” (Mark
9:17-27)
Please
notice in the above text how Jesus rebuked the evil “spirit”
that was causing this young boy to try to kill himself. This spirit
would throw the boy into fire, hoping to burn him to death. It would
also throw him, against his will, into bodies of water to drown him.
Notice also, Jesus did not refer the boy to a physician, a psychiatrist or suggest a
“miracle drug” to keep him from harming or killing himself.
The
Church of Jesus Christ is not a referral agency.
The Church of Jesus
Christ is the most powerful organism on the face of Planet Earth.
Jesus
Himself directly addressed the spirit that was forcing itself upon the boy against both
his will and his family’s.
That
is what suicide is.
It is a spirit that forces itself upon unsuspecting human beings to get them
to kill themselves before they can get hooked up with God’s good plan
for their lives.
"For
I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for good and not for
evil, to give you a future and a hope, and to bring you to an expected
end." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Satan
does not care how he gets you out of here, as long as he gets you out of
here. His greatest desire is to plunder Heaven
and populate Hell.
Don't fall for his trap.
One
Man Set Free from the Spirit of Suicide
My
wife and I once knew a man who frequented the same restaurant we did. He was a kindhearted man but he drank heavily and was oftentimes
obnoxious and overbearing.
He was obviously tormented by evil spirits.
One day
he put a gun to his head and told the other tenants in his apartment building
that he was going to kill himself. They, in turn, called the police.
The police came and there was a major
standoff. This man held the police
at bay with a gun to his head, threatening to kill himself
if they came anywhere near him.
Finally, after much convincing, he was persuaded to put the gun down
and go with the police. It was later
decided that charges would not be pressed because he was threatening no one
but himself.
Soon
after this incident, the man began to have thoughts of suicide again.
He walked into the same restaurant where
Barbara and I were again.
He said to me, in essence, “The
Lord told me to come here today. He said you would be here and you
would help me. I’m being tormented by spirits that come and touch
me in the night. I’m scared. I haven’t eaten for days. I’m sick. I’m anxious. I have no
peace.”
I
listened on the inside before laying my hand on his
head right there in the restaurant and praying for him.
The Lord showed me to
"cast the spirit of
suicide out of him."
I stood there
quietly and calmly and told that spirit of suicide this man just gave
me authority to pray for him and that he was going to have to come out.
I quietly said, “Spirit of suicide, come
out, in Jesus’ powerful Name.”
There
was no big demonstration, no screaming, no fit throwing or vomiting as in
the movie, "The Exorcist."
The
man just looked at me wide-eyed and said, “That’s it. That’s it. It’s gone.”
He
later explained to me how for months he
felt as if something was gripping his head tightly, wanting to literally crush his
skull. The moment I prayed that
prayer, the gripping, crushing hold on his skull was released as the demon
spirit loosed him.
His face lit up with the biggest smile. He was able to eat again, to live again
and to experience joy and peace.
Barbara
and I had occasion to see this man from time to time after this encounter at
the restaurant.
Each time we saw him, he joyfully explained how he was still free.
He no longer drinks alcohol and will not
allow anyone into his home who does.
He loves to read his Bible now.
He works out multiple times weekly at the
gym.
He’s eating regularly again and
is enjoying life.
He’s no longer
afraid or angry.
We are constantly
amazed by the supernatural change in him.
This
man said to me, “I have a picture of Jesus on my wall. Whenever that evil spirit would come to me in
the night, I would pray to that picture and nothing would happen. Why is it that when you prayed something
finally happened?”
I explained to him that
there is no power available in praying to a picture of Jesus.
The Bible says we must address Satan and evil spirits
directly in the Name of Jesus,
telling them to go.
We must give them an authoritative
voice command in Jesus' Name.
When we obey the
Bible, demons will obey us.
"Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you." (James 4:7)
Demons
fear the Name of Jesus,
not pictures of Jesus.
You
Are Not Alone. Not at All
If
you are tormented by suicide thoughts, know this. You are not
alone. Most people have them but just do not talk about it.
Some
studies have actually revealed that for every death by suicide, an
additional two hundred people have attempted it and four hundred more have
considered it.
Many
people in the Bible despaired to the point of not wanting to live any
longer.
Rebekah
pled, "If this is the way it is, why should I go on living?"
(Genesis 25:22)
Moses
wanted to stop living and begged God, "Please kill me right now ... Do
not make me see any more calamity." (Numbers 11:15)
Elijah
cried, "Take my life away, for I am no better than my
forefathers." (1 Kings 19:4)
Job
lamented, "Why did I not die at birth?" (Job 3:11)
However,
if you read the Bible accounts of Rebekah, Moses, Elijah and Job, you will
find that their circumstances soon changed for the better - and in ways they
could never have foreseen. This can and will happen for you as well, if only
you will hold steady, stay the course and
believe.
The
Apostle Paul, speaking by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said there's
always a way out.
"There
hath no temptation (test or trial) taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above all that ye
are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you
may be able to bear it." (1Corinthians 10:13)
"We
are hard pressed in every way, but not cramped beyond movement; we are
perplexed, but not absolutely with no way out." (2 Corinthians 4:8)
Things
are never as bad as they seem.
Circumstances do change.
There
is always hope in God through
Christ Jesus.
Albert
Russel Erskine
Albert
Russel Erskine, born January 21, 1871, served as the President of the
Studebaker Corporation, an early automobile manufacturer, from 1915 until
1933. Studebaker thrived under his leadership.
However,
as a result of the Great Depression of 1929 thru 1933, the Studebaker
Corporation's working capital fell from $26 million to $3.5 million and the
banks were owed $6 million for which they demanded payment.
Ousted
from his position at Studebaker as a result and himself in debt $350,000,
Albert Erskine committed suicide on June 30, 1933.
Had
Mr. Erskine only endured a few short years longer, he would have witnessed
the United States of America enter World War II. As a result,
Studebaker went back into production, only now for the US military,
manufacturing trucks, automobiles, amphibious vehicles and aircraft engines
for the B17 Flying Fortress bomber. The Studebaker Corporation recovered
financially and very quickly.
Had
Mr. Erskine endured the Great Depression and its losses, many believe he
would have found himself back at the helm of the Studebaker Corporation as
it manufactured equipment for the United States military.
No
doubt, he would easily have regained his personal financial losses as well.
You,
too, will regain your personal losses in ways you cannot foresee right now,
if only you will commit life and give God a
chance.
Even
Jesus Was Harassed by Satan & Suicide
The
Bible clearly reveals that even
Jesus had thoughts of suicide forced upon Him, so don’t you be ashamed
that these thoughts occur to you. They are not your thoughts. They are
demonic thoughts and Satan did the same to Jesus.
“For
we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
It
is indisputable. The Bible says Jesus was tempted in all points, even
as we are - including suicide. Although Satan tempted Jesus with
suicide thoughts, He simply never gave in to them. He knew what to do
with them.
Jesus
knew that just because a bird flew over His head, it did not mean He had to
allow it to build a nest there. And just because thoughts of suicide
occur to you, it does not mean you have to accept them.
When
Satan attempted to press Jesus with suicide thoughts, Jesus rebuked
him with the Word of God and told him to back off.
"Then
the devil taketh Him up into the Holy City, and setteth Him upon a pinnacle
of the Temple, and sayeth unto Him, If Thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself
down... Jesus said unto him, It is written again, thou shalt not tempt the
Lord thy God." (Matthew 4:6,7)
Whenever
Jesus rebuked Satan according to the Word of God, Satan
always obeyed. He’ll obey you, as well.
If
you are a Born Again believer in Jesus Christ,
it is a simple matter of addressing the spirit by saying, "You foul,
unclean spirit of suicide, I bind you in Jesus' Strong Name. Go from me. I
will live, I will not die."
Keep
in mind, if you are tormented by suicide thoughts you have authority over
them and you are not alone.
Satan
has pressed many people with thoughts of suicide, including Jesus.
Most
people just do not talk about it.
Nearly
100 Set Free from the Spirit of Suicide
I
was once fasting and praying concerning upcoming revival services I was to
be conducting in Front Royal, Virginia.
At
the time I had a personal need in my own life and I asked my wife to pray
for me. I myself was being harassed by a spirit of suicide.
My
wife laid her hands on my head and as she prayed, I suddenly had
a vision.
I
saw myself standing on the platform of the sanctuary where I was to be
conducting the services in Virginia. In the vision I realized I had just
read to the congregation from Mark chapter 9 where Jesus had cast the spirit
of suicide out of the young boy.
After
reading the narrative I saw myself give an altar call for people who were
being harassed by suicide spirits and thoughts of suicide.
In
the vision I watched as approximately one hundred people came forward to
have hands laid on them in order
for that spirit to be cast out.
The
vision ended.
When
we arrived at the Church in Front Royal some weeks later, the sanctuary was
as I had seen in the vision.
I
stood on the platform and acted out what I saw in the vision.
I
read to the congregation from Mark chapter 9 exactly as I had in the vision,
explaining to them that thoughts of suicide are frequently caused by evil
spirits.
I
then gave an altar call even as I had seen myself do in the
vision.
Exactly
as I had also seen in the vision, approximately one hundred people came
forward to have hands laid on them, wanting that spirit cast out of them.
There were men, women, boys and girls.
There
were approximately four hundred people in attendance that night. This means
that one-quarter of the people in that congregation were harassed by suicide
spirits.
I
laid hands on every one of them and cast that spirit out, one by one in the
Strong Name of Jesus. The youngest was an
8-year old boy and the oldest was an 80-year old man. They were
all gloriously and instantly set free from the tormenting spirit of
suicide.
I
then instructed them very briefly how to
maintain authority over evil spirits and how to keep the evil spirit of
suicide from returning.
It
was heartbreaking to listen to the little 8-year old boy explain how he
constantly heard a voice telling him to kill himself. He explained how he
would hear it all day long at school and all night long at home.
Sadly,
suicide is the second leading cause of death in ages 10 to 24.
This
little 8-year old was so gloriously set free and so filled with peace he
became my best friend for the remaining days of the revival. He
watched everything I did in every service and even followed me as I would go
down the prayer line praying for people. He even joined in with his
young friends, laying hands on other children and setting them free in
Jesus' Name.
Jesus,
the Master of Demon Powers, spent
one-quarter of His life and Ministry casting out evil spirits and teaching
His disciples how to do it. This is how prevalent evil
spirits are in the Earth even today.
One-quarter
of the above-mentioned congregation were being tormented by the spirit of
suicide and the Pastor did not even realize it. Some of his own family
members came forward to be set free.
Suicide
spirits and evil spirits are present in
most Churches to the same degree and most Pastors do not realize
it.
Pastors
absolutely must learn their authority over evil spirits and suicide spirits,
teaching their congregations how to withstand and to conquer them.
You,
Too, Can Be Free from the Spirit of Suicide
Suicide
rates amongst immoral youth and adults are amongst the very highest. The
former top psychiatrist of John Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine in
Baltimore, Maryland, has stated that transgenders whose genitalia have been
surgically altered suffer a suicide rate twenty times higher than the
general population.
LGBT
teens and young adults have one of the highest rates of all suicide
attempts.
Researchers
report a staggering twelve percent of urban gay and bisexual men attempt
suicide, a rate three times higher than the average American adult male.
Gay
suicide statistics concerning youth and transgender people are absolutely
shocking. This is because every time an immoral homosexual
act is committed, the human conscience throbs with guilt and sorrow.
"Wherefore
God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts,
to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: who change the truth of God
into a lie, and worship and serve the creature more than the Creator."
(Romans 1:24-25)
If
you, too, are being harassed by a spirit of suicide, you can
be free of its torment, but you must first be Born
Again. Once you become a member of God's forever family through the New
Birth, you can tell that
spirit to release you, in Jesus’ Name.
It must obey you.
Allow
me to say this, as well.
If you listen to that spirit and take your life,
it is not the end of your problems. It is the beginning. You will
face Almighty God for the murder of His creation.
I promise you, from God’s written Word, you will not like that. You
will
wish you had listened to this message and lived.
If Christ is your
Savior and you take your life, you will be stripped of rewards in Heaven at
the BEMA Judgment
Seat of Christ. Notice I said "in Heaven." You will make it to Heaven,
yes. But you will have severely, severely altered your eternal
destiny.
If
Christ is not your Savior, you will spend Eternity in the Lake of
Fire. (Matthew 5:41;
Revelation 20:15)
Hell is not a booty fest with a bunch
of rappers, hip hoppers or Hell’s Angels.
Hell is a place of unending
torment where all cute little theories concerning it will be violently
raped by a brutal gang of facts. Let’s not even go there! No
pun intended.
Just
say, “Jesus, You’re my choice for Savior.”
This automatically places you into God's Family and gives you immediate power
over the spirit of suicide. (Luke 10:19,20; John 1:12; Romans
10:13)
Then
when the thought comes, “I need to just kill myself,” say this, “Satan, you
can’t fool me using pronouns. That’s not my voice. It’s
yours. I rebuke the spirit of suicide, in Jesus’ powerful Name.
I’ve got revelation of my authority over you now.”
The
spirit of suicide will leave because if
it doesn’t, it will have to deal directly with Jesus. The spirit of
suicide would much rather obey
you. (Matthew 18:19; James 4:7)
Tell
that suicide spirit as it goes that it will not leave you and go into any of
your family members, either!
Tell it, "You have no place in me or my family.
In Jesus' Strong Name."
Commit
life, not suicide!
God has a plan for your
life and it is a plan that includes big time power over Satan and all evil
spirits!
This
is why Satan wants you out of here at all costs.
He's afraid
you will both discover and exercise
your authority over him, spreading the Word and setting other captives
free.
"And
these signs shall follow them that believe: In My Name shall they cast out
demons... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
(Mark 16:17-18)
